Circle just pulled off what most crypto projects only dream about. BlackRock, Visa, AWS, and Anthropic showed up on day one when the USDC issuer launched Arc's public testnet on October 28, 2025. Over 100 institutional participants joined from finance, payments, and tech.
Arc is purpose-built for one job: moving money fast. Tokenized funds, cross-border payments, forex trading, lending. The testnet numbers are wild. In 90 days it processed 150 million transactions with 0.5-second settlement. A traditional wire transfer takes one to five business days.
Visa isn't just slapping its name on a press release. The payments giant will run an Arc validator node and use the network to boost its own USDC settlement game.
Circle raised $222 million through an Arc token presale in May 2026, hitting a $3 billion fully diluted valuation. a16z crypto and Apollo led the round. That kind of backing from serious institutional money signals something real is happening here.
BlackRock's presence matters most. The world's largest asset manager doesn't bet on failed infrastructure. Anthropic's involvement, the team behind Claude, suggests Arc's reach extends beyond payments into AI infrastructure territory.
Three things to watch now. First, whether mainnet performance matches testnet claims when real money flows through. Second, how many of those 100-plus testnet participants actually become validators and active users on mainnet. Third, if the Arc token develops any secondary market traction beyond presale holders.
