Ripple Labs landed its Crypto Asset Service Provider license from Luxembourg's financial regulator on August 5, clearing the way for European institutions to settle payments across XRP Ledger. The company now holds over 70 regulatory approvals globally, but the EU stamp unlocks access to all 30 countries in the European Economic Area under a single licensing framework.
The move comes as XRPL itself is gaining momentum. Transaction volume spiked sharply in early August, hitting 2.18 million total transactions on Tuesday, nearly triple the August 1 count of 978,000. Network addresses climbed to 8.48 million from 7.92 million at the start of the year. More concretely, tokenized assets on the ledger now represent over $4 billion in value across more than 60,000 stablecoin holders.
Products pile up
Ripple has accelerated its product rollout over the past few months. In July it launched Ripple Mint, a custody and management platform for its own stablecoin RLUSD. Earlier it released the XRPL Lending protocol and an AI Starter Kit for developers. Each addition widens the ecosystem's use cases for institutions. With regulatory clarity now in place across the EU, barriers that previously slowed adoption are crumbling. Banks and payment providers can now integrate Ripple Payments directly without navigating fragmented national rules.
