August 6 marks the end of the road for six crypto pairs on Coinbase's institutional and advanced platforms. LSETH-ETH, MINA-EUR, GRT-GBP, MASK-GBP, CHZ-USDT and CRO-USDT will stop trading as the exchange consolidates its market offerings.

Five of those pairs already shifted into limit-only mode days earlier. Traders could still place and cancel limit orders, but Coinbase blocked new market orders on MINA-EUR, GRT-GBP, MASK-GBP, CHZ-USDT and CRO-USDT. LSETH-ETH skipped the warning phase entirely.

The cuts stem from Coinbase's routine market health review. The exchange watches liquidity levels, trading volume and order book depth. When pairs fall short, they get removed, even if the underlying assets stay available in other trading pairs.

This isn't Coinbase's first pruning. Earlier cuts followed similar logic, though some cases involved regulatory shifts or project changes. Function X hit limit-only mode after its creator suspended the smart contract and switched tokens to PUNDIAI.

The six assets themselves remain tradeable elsewhere on Coinbase, depending on location and available pair combinations. Customers in supported regions can still access these cryptocurrencies through different market pairings.

Separately, Coinbase is moving its institutional derivatives business to Deribit starting September 9, signaling a broader shift in how the exchange structures its product lineup.
