Binance’s XRP futures market has seen open interest crater to levels not seen since early 2024 as the altcoin struggles through a drawn-out bear phase. On July 29, XRP’s open interest on Binance dropped to roughly $370 million, down drastically from over $1.7 billion a year earlier a 78% collapse over 12 months.
This decline tracks closely with XRP’s price, which has slid more than 65% over the past year, reflecting weakening appetite for derivative exposure. Even though XRP maintained one of the highest trading volumes on Binance in the last 24 hours, over $77 million, the overall futures interest has been shrinking steadily since July 2025.
The broader crypto market has felt the strain amid a shift of asset flows toward AI stocks and other sectors, leaving tokens like XRP facing persistent selling pressure. Total open interest related to XRP across all exchanges plunged from nearly $4 billion in July 2025 to just under $800 million recently, underscoring traders’ retreat from leveraged bets amid bearish sentiment.
XRP was trading near $1.08 at the time of reporting, posting a modest 0.5% gain in the past day with $1.25 billion in volume. The sustained drop in derivatives interest signals traders are wary of further downside, choosing to cut risk exposure despite brief price upticks.
