The XRP Ledger is quickly stepping out from its payments-only past to become a go-to blockchain for institutional tokenization of real-world assets. Instead of promising future upgrades, it today offers the solid infrastructure that banks and financial firms need to issue and settle complex assets on-chain.

Tokenized real-world assets, including U.S. Treasuries, corporate bonds, and real estate, are expanding rapidly on the XRPL. Over the past year, tokenized U.S. Treasuries alone jumped from about $50 million to over $418 million. This surge points to growing trust by institutions using the network to manage high-value financial products in a compliant and efficient way.

Building Blocks for Institutional Adoption

Trensik, a platform working with verified tokenized assets on XRPL, highlights five key features that set the ledger apart: native asset issuance directly on-chain, a built-in decentralized exchange, strong compliance protocols, settlement times of three to five seconds, and the availability of RLUSD, Ripple’s U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin. These capabilities enable fast transactions with reduced counterparty risks and offer 24/7 global trading without relying on outside networks.

Meanwhile, XRPL is expanding its user base through partnerships that enhance accessibility. LOBSTR Wallet, popular on the Stellar network with over 1.5 million users, has integrated XRPL support. This addition lets users hold, send, and swap XRP and XRPL tokens across Stellar and XRP Ledger ecosystems, plus buy and sell RLUSD through fiat on- and off-ramps on iOS and Android. This cross-chain interoperability marks a significant step in connecting two major ledger communities.

RippleX’s engineering team projects another wave of growth fueled by artificial intelligence. Autonomous AI agents are expected to ramp up XRPL transaction volumes from roughly 1 million today to anywhere between 10 million and 100 million in the near future. These AI-driven payments and asset interactions need a blockchain capable of speedy, low-cost settlements something XRPL is positioned to handle.

The network’s evolving role in finance and AI-driven applications could shape its path going forward, combining fast technology with expanding institutional interest.
