TPG has entered exclusive talks to purchase Netrality Data Centers from Macquarie Asset Management, with the deal value estimated between $2 billion and $3 billion. If completed, this would be one of the largest data center acquisitions this year.
Netrality’s Market Position and Growth
Netrality operates 18 data center locations across North America, covering 3.3 million square feet and more than 100 megawatts of power capacity. This makes it the biggest privately held operator of core network interconnection sites in the US.
Macquarie acquired a majority stake in Netrality in 2019 from Abrams Capital Management. A $605 million funding round in mid-2025 helped position Netrality for a potential sale, which now looks imminent.
The broader sector is drawing intense interest as AI workloads push demand for data center infrastructure higher. Other players like DataBank and EdgeCore have also attracted major investments, signaling a heated market.
The deal could close as soon as fall 2026, marking a significant moment in the ongoing surge of data center investments driven by AI and cloud growth.
