Synopsys stock edged up 1.49% in premarket trading, reaching $379.05 after the company revealed new autonomous AI engineering workflows developed in partnership with NVIDIA. These innovations aim to automate critical semiconductor tasks like chip verification, analog design, and simulations, significantly cutting development time.
The announcement was made during the 2026 Design Automation Conference, where Synopsys demonstrated its expanded autonomous engineering platform. This platform merges Synopsys' software tools with NVIDIA's Nemotron AI models and accelerated computing infrastructure, enabling chip design and verification to be driven by AI agents operating with minimal human oversight.
One standout feature is the autonomous verification workflow. It orchestrates multiple AI agents to manage design testing, debugging, and coverage analysis, slashing what used to be weeks of manual work down to a few hours. Verification throughput reportedly increased up to 50 times, while coverage improved by about 20%, boosting both speed and quality of chip validation.
Synopsys also scaled up autonomous analog and mixed-signal design capabilities. Engineers can now set design targets via natural language, letting AI agents handle implementation and verification. This approach is expected to triple productivity in analog engineering.
plus GPU acceleration enhances performance in computer-aided engineering tasks, such as electronics thermal analysis, where simulations are fully automated from setup to result interpretation. The rollout of these autonomous engineering tools is slated to begin with select customers in late 2026, marking a shift toward more AI-driven semiconductor development.
