A wallet tied to Strategy shifted 1,030 Bitcoin two days after the company disclosed its official sale of 1,638 BTC for $104.73 million. The movement happened on Aug. 5, but whether it represents another sale remains murky. Strategy has not confirmed the transfer as a sale, and the company's official SEC filings still show holdings of 842,138 Bitcoin as of early August.

Onchain analytics firm Lookonchain flagged the move, attributing the addresses to Strategy. The value at the time: roughly $66.14 million worth of Bitcoin. That timing raised eyebrows, coming just 48 hours after Michael Saylor's company disclosed a major Bitcoin reduction for preferred stock dividends and buybacks.

Why confirmation matters

Here's where things get complicated. Bitcoin moves between wallets constantly without being sold. A transfer could mean a sale, yes, but it could also be movement between custodians, internal accounts, or settlement addresses. Only an SEC disclosure, deposits to known exchanges with subsequent trading activity, or other concrete proof would establish that the coins actually changed hands.

Strategy's publicly maintained Bitcoin ledger still reports those same 842,138 holdings after the company's Aug. 3 update. That record tracks transactions Strategy itself reports, not every movement that external analytics firms attribute to the company based on address clustering.

Meanwhile, MARA moved 6,000 Bitcoin to Two Prime, a custodian where the company already maintains managed institutional yield accounts. This appears more clearly tied to strategy execution around yield arrangements rather than a straight sale.

The broader pattern matters. Strategy sold $104.73 million worth just last week, a sharp pivot from its long accumulation stance. That shift has sparked debate about whether corporate Bitcoin treasuries are hitting saturation. Whether this latest transfer adds to that picture depends entirely on what Strategy confirms next.
