SoFi Technologies has reached a major milestone by enabling real-time commercial payments using its SoFiUSD stablecoin. During its Q2 earnings call, the digital bank confirmed that enterprise clients have started settling transactions on its blockchain-based payment rail, a move that marks the transition from pilot phase to full production just seven months after the stablecoin’s launch.
SoFiUSD Goes Live with Big Business Banking
The SoFiUSD stablecoin is now an active part of SoFi’s Big Business Banking platform, providing 15.8 million members a new way to move money instantly, any hour of the day. This infrastructure allows commercial clients to settle payments 24/7 through SoFiUSD on the Solana blockchain, representing a step beyond the typical consumer token towards being a backbone for banks, fintechs, and enterprise systems. Earlier in the year, SoFi had announced partnerships to enable SoFiUSD settlements on Mastercard’s global payment network, and this quarter's update confirms actual transaction flow and adoption by business users.
Q2 Financials Show Strong Growth Despite Modest Crypto Revenue
The quarter brought impressive numbers for SoFi with adjusted net revenue hitting $1.2 billion, a 40% increase year over year. Net income rose 61% to $156.6 million, underpinned by a record $14.8 billion in loan originations. However, SoFi’s crypto operations posted $134.3 million in transaction revenue but netted only $1.2 million after $133.1 million in expenses. SoFi re-entered the crypto space in late 2025 with SoFi Crypto and appears committed to building out its stablecoin ecosystem as part of its broader financial services expansion.
The stock price, however, reacted negatively to the earnings report. Shares declined about 10% in early trading, extending a sell-off that has left SOFI down roughly half from its 2026 peak. Investors might be cautious despite the solid quarterly results and the strategic launch of SoFiUSD’s live settlement capabilities.
