Taylor Lindman, chief counsel for the SEC's Crypto Task Force, will deliver a keynote speech at CoinDesk’s Policy & Regulation 2026 conference on September 22 in Washington, D.C. This event offers a rare chance to hear directly from a leading regulatory figure who shapes crypto policy just months after joining the SEC.
Lindman moved from Chainlink Labs, where he served as Deputy General Counsel for five years, to the SEC in February 2026. His deep experience in decentralized finance infrastructure sets him apart in his current role, which he took over from Michael Selig. SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce, known for her crypto-friendly stance, publicly supported Lindman’s appointment.
Shaping Crypto Regulation with New Frameworks
At the Consensus conference in May, Lindman introduced the SEC’s evolving “two-bucket” framework. This approach aims to categorize digital assets into two groups: those viewed as securities and those that are not. The distinction has massive implications for how projects operate and how exchanges list tokens.
He also highlighted the CLARITY Act, a piece of legislation gaining traction among industry lobbyists. If passed, this law would be the first congressional effort to clearly define digital assets as either securities or commodities. Such a move could force many market players to reconsider their strategies, affecting fundraising and regulatory compliance across the board.
Lindman’s upcoming keynote at CoinDesk arrives at a critical moment as regulators and the crypto sector navigate complex rules. His insights will be particularly relevant given ongoing debates about investor protection and innovation in the digital asset space.
