"Samsung Wallet is evolving to hold more than just your cash," Lee Dinham, Samsung's Product Manager, announced during the 2026 Galaxy Unpacked event. The tech giant revealed that its Wallet app will now support native stablecoins, marking a significant step toward merging traditional finance with digital assets. This move positions Samsung as one of the first major smartphone brands to enable smooth and reliable stablecoin transactions directly from users' phones.
The update coincides with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Card, the company’s first credit card that combines payments, cashback rewards, and digital asset management in one platform. Samsung envisions its wallet as the core of a connected financial ecosystem, uniting payments, rewards, and now crypto assets within Galaxy devices. The event showcased the wallet interface holding Circle’s USDC, though Samsung did not specify partnerships with major stablecoin issuers like USDC or USDT.
Samsung’s push into crypto is far from new. Since embedding a secure cryptocurrency wallet in the Galaxy S10 back in 2019, the company has steadily expanded its crypto offerings. Most recently, it integrated Coinbase One, Coinbase's premium subscription service, into Samsung Wallet for US users, simplifying access to cryptocurrencies for millions. This strategy reflects Samsung’s broader goal to make digital currencies a practical part of everyday life.
By embracing stablecoins, Samsung taps into a growing trend where digital currencies aim to offer the stability of traditional money combined with the speed and security of blockchain technology. This integration could accelerate crypto adoption among mainstream users by providing a trusted, easy-to-use interface for digital asset transfers. It also follows a broader pattern of tech companies enhancing financial services on mobile platforms, similar to how gold investment and other assets have seen renewed interest recently.
