Samsung SDS plans to ramp up its digital asset infrastructure by focusing on stablecoin technology in collaboration with Dunamu, the operator of South Korea’s biggest crypto exchange, Upbit. The company sees this as a strategic move, not just a financial investment.

Samsung SDS, which owns a 1% stake in Dunamu, is integrating blockchain expertise with its strengths in AI, cloud, and cybersecurity. The partnership aims to build next-generation payment systems powered by AI and develop virtual asset financial platforms. These discussions are ongoing as both firms work on concrete business models.

In the second quarter, Samsung SDS reported a 17% increase in cloud revenue and a 75% surge in external cloud contracts. The company is also expanding its AI infrastructure, aiming to grow from 110 MW today to over 800 MW by 2031.

Samsung’s move follows a $408 million combined investment by Samsung SDS, Samsung Securities, and Samsung Card for a 4% stake in Dunamu. This alliance highlights Samsung’s commitment to combining IT services with blockchain to strengthen digital financial infrastructure.
