Robert Stock will take the mound for the Mets on Sunday, marking his first major league start since 2021. The 36-year-old right-hander returns after recovering from thoracic outlet syndrome surgery performed in March.
Stock began a rehab assignment on June 19 and recently completed two starts at Triple-A Syracuse, where he pitched 7.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out nine. The Mets called him up to add depth for the series finale against the Miami Marlins, matching him against Miami’s ace Sandy Alcantara.
With Clay Holmes still on the 60-day injured list, Stock’s role is expected to be limited with a restricted pitch count and likely just a single start. His return offers the Mets a short-term boost while they wait for their regular rotation to stabilize.
