On July 23, Ripple rolled out Ripple Mint, a new platform designed for institutions to mint, redeem, bridge, and monitor its RLUSD stablecoin smoothly via web or API integration.
This marks a shift from the prior manual issuance process, allowing firms to automate token creation and redemptions while tracking transactions from dollar deposits to blockchain settlement.
Alongside Ripple Mint, the company expanded RLUSD’s reach beyond the XRP Ledger and Ethereum, adding support for XRPL EVM sidechain, Base, Optimism, Ink, and Unichain networks to boost token circulation.
In a separate move, Ripple made a strategic investment in Notabene, a compliance platform that integrates RLUSD into its business payments network, aiming to enhance institutional adoption and real transaction volumes.
Despite these growth initiatives, RLUSD’s monthly transfer volume dropped 25% to $10.95 billion, even as the number of holders and active addresses increased, hinting at a rise in token holding rather than spending.
Currently, RLUSD's market capitalization stands near $1.5 billion, split between $877 million on the XRP Ledger and around $643 million on Ethereum.
The new tooling from Ripple aims to bridge the gap between token minting and active usage, promoting smoother, automated issuance and compliance-driven payments for institutions.
