Quanta Computer just secured board approval to launch a massive stock offering targeting up to $2.7 billion. This move could rank as Taiwan’s biggest equity sale in almost 20 years, highlighting the company’s aggressive growth plans in the high-demand AI infrastructure sector.
Expanding AI and HPC Capacity
Founded in 1988 as a notebook builder, Quanta has grown into a cornerstone of the global computing supply chain. Its expertise lies in manufacturing servers for big-name clients like HP, Dell, and major cloud providers, making it a key player underpinning emerging technologies. The proceeds from this capital raise will mainly be invested in expanding production capabilities aimed at high-performance computing. Last year, Quanta committed $100 million to a strategic partnership with superconducting quantum computing firm Rigetti, signaling its focus beyond traditional hardware.
At roughly $37 billion market capitalization, adding up to 245 million new shares means current investors will see dilution, but it reflects the scale of ambition driving this deal. Taiwan’s tech industry remains geopolitically key, centered on semiconductor giant TSMC. Quanta’s stock sale further shows Taiwan’s key role in hardware manufacturing, including technologies that support crypto mining and AI deployments.
If the offering hits the $2.7 billion mark, it will be the island’s largest issuance since 2007. This cash influx positions Quanta to capture surging demand for servers powering artificial intelligence workloads worldwide.
