OSL Digital Securities has started retail XRP trading in Hong Kong, allowing local investors to buy and sell XRP directly with USD and HKD pairs. This marks the first time everyday traders in the city can access Ripple's token through a regulated platform, as previously XRP trading on OSL was limited to professional investors only. The platform operates under the Securities and Futures Commission's license and complies with Hong Kong’s anti-money laundering regulations.

The new service includes XRP/USD trading via Flash Trade and offers over-the-counter options for both XRP/USD and XRP/HKD pairs, with all transactions settled on the XRP Ledger. The addition of the XRP/HKD pair is particularly notable because it lets users avoid moving funds to foreign exchanges, streamlining the process for local traders. With this launch, XRP joins Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana as the digital assets approved for retail trading on OSL.

While Hong Kong moves forward with regulated crypto offerings, the United States continues refining its regulatory framework, highlighting the differing approaches between the two markets.

Despite the boost from OSL's retail offering, XRP's price has risen even as open interest has dropped, a divergence that caught the attention of analysts. CryptoQuant contributor CW pointed out that the falling open interest amid rising prices suggests many short positions are closing, signaling reduced bearish bets. Meanwhile, some traders remain cautious, noting that XRP’s long-term technical outlook on higher timeframes still appears weak.
