MoonPay rolled out PayBox, a new payment vault that integrates directly with ChatGPT and Claude, allowing users to conduct transactions without switching apps.
Users set up PayBox as a connector inside their AI chatbots, link wallets or cards, and verify their identity. The platform covers a wide range of actions: crypto trades, DeFi moves, travel bookings, dining reservations, and online shopping.
All transactions begin with a simple instruction sent through the assistant, which then prepares payment details or blockchain operations. Users can confirm each action through passkeys or allow transactions under pre-set autonomous limits.
PayBox safeguards wallet keys by splitting access credentials with multi-party computation and secure enclaves, preventing any single system from having full control. Visa’s agent commerce protocol keeps card details private during purchases.
Passkey approvals are transaction-specific and expire immediately after use, limiting risks from stolen credentials or hacked devices. The system offers two permission modes: ‘Always Ask’ requires approval for every payment, while ‘Autonomous’ lets transactions run within user-defined spending caps.
This launch covers Solana and major EVM blockchains, with plans to expand further. The smooth connection between AI conversational tools and payments hints at broader integrations ahead.
