LayerZero and Keeta have teamed up to allow tokenized commercial bank deposits to move smoothly across Ethereum, Solana, Base, and the Keeta Network. This new interoperability aims to bring regulated, bank-backed digital money into the multichain ecosystem.
The service will launch later in July 2026, introducing Keeta Stablecoins that represent commercial bank deposits held through Bivo and its partner-bank network. The initial rollout covers nine fiat currencies including the U.S. dollar, euro, yen, yuan, pound, Canadian dollar, Mexican peso, UAE dirham, and Hong Kong dollar.
How the System Works
Keeta Stablecoins rely on LayerZero’s Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) Standard. This technology allows a single token supply to exist across multiple blockchains. When tokens move from one network to another, they are burned on the source chain and minted on the destination chain, ensuring no duplication.
Bivo acts as the custodian of the backing deposits and connects to U.S. payment rails, while the issuing institutions keep full control over the contracts governing transfers and compliance. LayerZero adds extra layers of control including transfer restrictions, rate limits, pause capabilities, and operational roles. These features give issuers the ability to enforce policies without sacrificing cross-chain availability.
Keeta’s CEO Ty Schenk emphasized the need for regulated bank money to flow freely across blockchains. "The future of institutional money isn’t a walled garden," he said. This approach targets treasury management, payment processing, and settlement workflows, allowing institutions to hold and transfer tokens representing commercial bank deposits across public blockchains.
By integrating tokenized bank deposits with LayerZero’s omnichain infrastructure, Keeta aims to break down barriers that have traditionally kept bank money siloed. This development marks a step toward multi-network settlement solutions that blend regulatory compliance with blockchain innovation.
