Intuitive Machines stock jumped 6.16% to $13.10 after the company closed purchases of Goonhilly Earth Station and COMSAT, two major ground communications facilities. Pre-market trading pushed shares higher still, up another 2.98% to $13.49. The back-to-back acquisitions give LUNR control over critical deep space infrastructure in the UK and US.

Network Expansion Opens New Mission Windows

The two buys fundamentally reshape how Intuitive Machines tracks and commands spacecraft. Goonhilly brings proven deep space antenna systems, tracking expertise, and established telecommand and telemetry operations. COMSAT adds US-based ground stations and communications bandwidth used by both commercial and government clients. Combined, the acquisitions let mission controllers maintain contact windows during lunar and deep space operations that would otherwise have dead zones.

The integrated network handles communications relay, data transmission, and position, navigation, and timing services. Controllers can now monitor spacecraft, send commands, receive telemetry, and exchange mission data across all operational phases without the communication blackouts that plagued earlier attempts. The expanded footprint covers critical Earth viewing angles from both continents.

This matters directly for Intuitive Machines' upcoming IM-3 and Altus-1 missions. As the company positions itself as a full space data and infrastructure provider, control over ground stations transforms it from a mission operator into a full-stack communications company. Where competitors might rely on third-party antennas or satellite operators, LUNR now owns the pipes.
