Grayscale Investments has called on the Senate to hold a vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, or CLARITY Act, before lawmakers leave for their August recess. The world’s largest digital asset investment platform argues the bill is key for setting clear rules that affect hundreds of thousands of Americans holding digital assets.
The legislation aims to define regulatory boundaries between the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. It would establish a framework to protect investors while shielding blockchain developers from regulations meant for financial middlemen. Grayscale highlighted that current shifting enforcement policies create uncertainty for crypto businesses and investors.
Negotiations have stalled over ethics restrictions on federal officials, complicating bipartisan efforts. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has also urged an immediate Senate vote. With limited floor time left before the August recess, the outcome remains uncertain as the Senate juggles other priorities like government funding and foreign policy.
