Ethereum traders are turning pessimistic for the third time in just one month, with social sentiment dropping sharply, according to Santiment's latest analysis. This decline happens while Ethereum's price hovers near $1,854 and demand for Ethereum spot ETFs intensifies.

Sentiment Patterns and Market Signals

Santiment measures Ethereum sentiment by evaluating positive versus negative commentary on platforms like X, Reddit, and Telegram. On July 24, this ratio plunged to 1.089, marking the third bearish extreme since late June. Similar low points on June 27 and July 11 were followed by solid price rallies of 14% over a week and 7% within four days, respectively.

Despite the crowd's current gloom, institutional interest tells a different story. Ethereum ETFs attracted $103.9 million in inflows during the week ending July 24, the highest among all spot crypto products. This marks the third straight week of positive ETF inflows, following $84 million and $105 million in prior weeks. Such steady institutional investment contrasts with the prevailing negative sentiment among everyday traders.

On-chain data also paints a promising picture. CryptoQuant points out that Ethereum trades roughly 17% below its realized price of $2,304, suggesting undervaluation and potential for upside. Meanwhile, Binance's Ethereum reserves have dropped from nearly 5 million ETH mid-2025 to about 3.8 million now, reducing the supply of easily sellable coins.

These factors combined hint at diminishing downside risk for Ethereum and may pave the way for a stronger performance relative to Bitcoin. Santiment cautions that negative sentiment alone doesn’t guarantee immediate price rebounds, but when coupled with active ETF flows and ongoing protocol upgrades, it can set the stage for cleaner market turnarounds.
