Emirates has rolled out crypto payments for eligible users in the UAE through Crypto.com Pay. Now, travelers can book flights online using supported digital currencies, with payments instantly converted into Emirati dirhams via Crypto.com's regulated platform.
This launch follows a memorandum of understanding signed in July 2025 between Emirates and Crypto.com to explore digital asset payments. After about a year of technical work, the system now operates under the UAE's virtual asset regulatory framework. The move aligns with the country's push to blend financial innovation with strict oversight.
How crypto payments work on Emirates
Customers choose Crypto.com Pay during checkout and complete transactions with their Crypto.com wallets. Bookings are confirmed immediately after payment. Crypto.com's UAE unit, approved as a virtual asset service provider locally, supports the service.
The airline sees this as a step to offer more payment options, especially appealing to younger travelers who prefer digital finance. Emirates recently reported a record profit of AED 19.7 billion for its fiscal year ending March 2026 and carried 53.2 million passengers, highlighting growing demand for digital-first travel experiences.
Bitcoin trading volume has softened recently, yet Emirates and Crypto.com are moving ahead with crypto adoption in travel payments. This initiative also supports Dubai’s D33 Economic Agenda aiming to expand electronic payments across the city.
