Coinbase Institutional and Glassnode released their joint Q3 2026 market report, offering a cautiously neutral stance on cryptocurrencies. Despite a 12% drop in total market capitalization excluding stablecoins during Q2, stablecoin supply hit an all-time high, hinting at growing liquidity held off-market by investors.
On-chain metrics suggest Bitcoin may be moving from a correction phase toward accumulation. The report highlights that Bitcoin's transferred supply recently fell to its lowest in years, valuations remain pressured, and the percentage of supply in profit dipped below historic lows. Historically, such signals have aligned with accumulation periods rather than distribution.
Still, macroeconomic factors cast a shadow. Tight liquidity conditions persist due to the Federal Reserve's hawkish monetary policies under Kevin Warsh and the strong dollar, which continue to weigh on risk assets. Added challenges include geopolitical risks, potential selling from digital asset treasuries, and net outflows from Bitcoin and Ethereum spot ETFs during the year’s first half. Although ETF outflows have slowed, the market environment remains cautious.
The report stresses that while on-chain data offers optimism for long-term Bitcoin holders, a sustained rally demands significant easing in global liquidity constraints. Investors should note these factors as they navigate the uncertain terrain ahead.
