Cardano's ADA dropped sharply to about $0.16, declining over 2% in the past day, as trading volume tumbled by 23% to $177.3 million. The token's long-term weakness remains clear, having fallen far from its $3.10 peak.

Underlying data reveals a worrying lack of engagement on the Cardano network. Daily transactions sank to just 21,700, a steep fall from the roughly 57,000 seen at peak levels. Despite this, active addresses nudged up slightly to around 13,860, suggesting many wallets generate only minimal activity. the network's transaction counts have lingered mostly between 11,000 and 20,000 this year, an unusually low level for a blockchain with Cardano's reputation.

Whale Activity and Treasury Expansion

Whale investors continue to dominate ADA trading on centralized exchanges but seem to be net sellers. Data from CoinGlass shows spot netflow at approximately $1.41 million, dwarfed by exchange inflows exceeding $143 million recently. This persistent selling pressure from large holders contributes to ADA's shaky price action.

In response, Cardano has increased its treasury spending allocation from 350 million to 500 million ADA tokens. This move aims to support infrastructure development and boost on-chain usage. Still, DeFiLlama reports only 62 protocols currently run on Cardano, with total value locked at $61.7 million, underscoring the ecosystem’s modest DApp adoption compared to peers.

The uptick in active addresses paired with plunging transaction numbers hints at superficial network participation lacking meaningful economic activity. Cardano's enhanced treasury provides resources to fuel growth, but without rising demand and developer interest, these funds might not reverse the trend.
