Bitcoin wrapped up July with a solid 7.5% gain, shrugging off a wave of challenges that rattled other assets. Even with Friday's 3% dip below $63,000, BTC managed to hold above recent lows, defying expectations of a sharper retreat amid rising interest rates and bond yields.

Several factors tested the crypto market in July. Investors faced growing speculation around Federal Reserve rate hikes, a sharp unwind in AI-related stocks, and a notable security flaw discovered in Coldcard hardware wallets. Yet, Bitcoin's price stayed resilient, benefiting from a significant reduction in leveraged trading since late June. Derivatives traders had already cut risk exposure when BTC dipped below $58,000 at the start of July, leaving less forced selling to pressure prices during recent volatility.

Less use, More Stability

Bitfinex analysts highlighted that Bitcoin's steadiness comes from this diminished use compared to equities. Crypto daily liquidations have stayed well below the usual $400 million to $500 million range seen earlier in 2026, signaling fewer forced liquidations even as macroeconomic shocks hit. This contrasts with the sharper reactions seen in stock markets, where levered players faced heavier margin calls.

Looking ahead, traders are eyeing upcoming U.S. employment reports and clearer signals from the Fed on interest rate paths. These indicators will likely influence whether spot Bitcoin ETF inflows pick up again. Meanwhile, lingering security concerns from the Coldcard vulnerability have kept some caution alive in the community, showing that technical risks remain a factor despite Bitcoin's price strength.
