Aptos (APT) saw fresh selling pressure on Friday following the emergence of a bearish pennant pattern that formed after a significant price drop. Despite ongoing upgrades to its ecosystem and active trading infrastructure development, buyers have struggled to halt the downtrend.
Currently, Aptos trades at around $0.6132, down 2.14% in the last 24 hours. Its market capitalization stands near $518.39 million, with a 24-hour trading volume of $36.55 million. Over the past week, the token has posted a slight gain of 0.27%, indicating some stability amid overall weakness.
Technical indicators show mixed signals for Aptos. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) holds at 46.80, just below the neutral 50 mark, suggesting that buying momentum remains insufficient to fully reverse losses, although it has gained ground above its moving average. Meanwhile, the MACD line is edging closer to zero, hinting that bearish momentum might be easing.
Analysts point to the pennant as a continuation pattern, where the price consolidates before the next directional move. The lower trendline has acted as key support for sellers, and a break below it could trigger further declines toward the next support level near $0.60. On the other hand, a decisive move above the resistance level with increased volume would invalidate the bearish outlook.
Data from CoinGlass reveals an 8.15% rise in APT futures trading volume to $71.14 million, contrasting with a 2.66% drop in open interest to $73.52 million. The positive funding rate indicates that holders of long positions are paying short sellers, reflecting cautious optimism in the market.
Despite price pressure, Aptos' development continues to advance. The Aptos Foundation recently rolled out AIP-146, a proposal designed to unlock staked APT tokens and increase transaction limits for complex decentralized finance operations. This upgrade aims to empower developers to build fully on-chain financial markets without relying on off-chain resources, expanding the network's capabilities.
