AMD closed at 484.64 hours before Q2 earnings, and options traders are already bracing for an 8.5% to 10% move. That means the stock could swing anywhere from 433 to 530 depending on what management says about server demand and AI chip margins.

The daily chart looks weak. Price sits below both the 20-day EMA at 502.12 and the 50-day EMA at 486.21. RSI14 is neutral at 46.69, but the MACD histogram has widened to negative 7.25, signaling building downside momentum rather than a bottom forming. This pullback from recent highs looks corrective, not constructive.

Yet the hourly timeframe tells a different story. A bullish MACD crossover just appeared there, with the histogram at positive 0.47. That divergence between daily weakness and hourly stabilization is exactly the kind of setup that can snap hard in either direction once the catalyst hits. The 200-day EMA sits far below at 345.36, so the long-term uptrend remains intact. What matters now is whether this is a healthy pullback or the start of something deeper.

Ark Invest added another layer of caution last month, selling 11.8 million dollars of AMD stock in a single day as part of 68.1 million in July sales. Large institutional moves like that tend to weigh on sentiment right before earnings. Traders will be watching cash flow, gross margins, and forward guidance on data center revenue. A beat could spark a run toward 530. A miss could test 433 fast.
